📚 The Crisis of Modern Books: Why Reading New Releases by Favorite Authors Has Gotten Boring

I was checking out new book releases today. 👀 There’s this one author… I won't name names, just in case. 🤫 His early books were genuinely interesting and a total pleasure to read. But time, it seems, spares no one. ⏳

I checked his website today and saw two new books. Yet, for some reason, I have zero desire to buy them. It’s not about the price — they’re only 350 rubles. It’s about the time you have to spend on them. 🕰️

His recent books have started to look more like textbooks on the lore of his own universe. Minimum plot, maximum lecturing and explanations. In my opinion, understanding how a fictional world works should come gradually and subtly as you read, not get dumped on you in entire chapters. 📝

Moreover, if you’ve read his earlier books, you’re already in the loop, and you don’t need to re-read the same concepts a hundred times. Sure, I get that the author does this for new readers, but it completely ruins the flow and experience. 💔

On top of that, he doesn't really have any new plots anymore — everything has become formulaic and repetitive. Oh well, God bless him, it’s his personal business how and what to write, it's not my place to tell him. 🤷‍♂️

I rely strictly on my own perception. If a book is good, it’s better than any movie for me! 🎬 Your own imagination paints pictures that no cinema will ever be able to recreate. 🌌

I learned to read before I even started school and was a library regular. I read through every interesting book I could find. To be fair, I lived in the countryside, so the local libraries weren't exactly rich in choice. First came fairy tales and adventures, then a bit later — sci-fi. 🚀 I never liked detective stories or Fenimore Cooper with his Indians — just not my thing. But space, horror, and sci-fi? I devoured those by the bucketload. Sometimes I’d sit or lie down with a book and only snap out of it when my alarm clock rang for school. Ha, and I hadn’t slept a single hour! ⏰

Nowadays, the book situation is amazing: you can read them, you can listen to them. 🎧 But somehow, I'm having a hard time finding truly good books. Maybe I’ve just become too picky and nothing satisfies me anymore? Getting old, I guess... 👴
